Terms of Service

Effective

These terms are the agreement between you and The You Times. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. Please read them along with our Privacy Policy.

The service

The You Times (“we”, “us”) gathers news from public sources, selects stories for you based on the preferences you give us, summarizes them with the help of AI, and delivers them as a personal newspaper on our website and, if you choose, by email.

Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use The You Times.
  • Give us accurate information and keep your sign-in details secure.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you suspect misuse.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

Subscriptions and payment

Some features need a paid subscription. Prices and billing periods are shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
  • You can cancel at any time from Settings; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are not refundable for partial periods. If something went wrong, write to us and we will look at it fairly.
  • We may change prices; we will tell you in advance, and a change applies from your next billing period.

News content and AI

Stories in your paper come from third-party publishers. Headlines, summaries and links are provided so you can find and read the original reporting; the original articles belong to their publishers.

Summaries and your morning note are written with AI. We work to keep them accurate, but they can contain mistakes or leave out context. The You Times is for general information only and is not financial, legal, medical or other professional advice. Check the original source before relying on anything important.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law or anyone else’s rights while using the service;
  • resell, republish or redistribute your paper or its contents commercially;
  • scrape, overload, probe or interfere with the service or its security;
  • access another person’s account or data without permission.

Third-party services

If you connect a third-party service such as Google Calendar, your use of it is also governed by that service’s terms. We access it only with your permission and only as described in our Privacy Policy. You can disconnect it at any time.

Our intellectual property

The You Times name, logo, design and software belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the service and read your paper for your own use while these terms apply.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it. By using The You Times you agree that we may handle your information as described there.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using The You Times and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk, and we may change or discontinue features. If we shut down the service entirely, we will give reasonable notice and refund any unused prepaid period.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any story or summary is complete or accurate. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50 if you have not paid us anything.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using The You Times after that, the new terms apply.
